In August 2009, was held on 62nd The A. J. Stacey Memorial Singles.
The first games were held in 1948 and began to organize it to honor the memory of one of the best blowers from Carmarthenshire - A.J. Stacey. The former captain and player of Llanelli RFC played bowls for Wales for seventeen seasons, captaining them in 1925.At club level he won the Singles Championship on four occasions and, having won it consecutively between 1918 and 1920, won the cup outright and then gave a new cup to the club.Although occasionally playing for other clubs he always retained his membership of Llanelli.His name is perpetuated through the Stacey Cup at Llandrindod Wells and the AJStacey Cup at the Llanelli Open Tournaments.
The event was the August of 2009 the first prize amounted to 500 pounds and AJStacey Memorial Cup.
The event is as well known as the Roberts-Rolfe Open Singles and attended by, among others: Aled Evans, Tyrone Bendl, Steve Thomas, Paul Diment.
Played at Parc Howard, Llanelli, and at the immaculate green, and the convivial surroundings of Calsonic Bowling Club. The standard of bowling rose above the Conditions.
