The Llanelli Open Bowls Tournaments are a continuation of what were known as the Llanelly Municipal Tournaments. Llanelli hosts the annual Llanelli Open Bowls Tournaments, the oldest and most prestigious of which, the Roberts-Rolfe Open Singles event, has been run since 1926, and now has a first prize of £600.

In the 1920's the fixture list featured teams such as Parc Howard and Bryncaerau which were within walking distance, but those further afield, such as Swansea and Bridgend involved the team travelling by train.
One of Wales' best known bowlers of all time was the great Alfred J. Stacey.Other notable players who made their mark in the 20's to 40's were Will Skym, Tom Evans, D.J.Phillips, S.O. Davies, W.H. Charles and Fred Thomas.

Until the beginning of the 90s the competitions were played on greens throughout the Llanelli area. Then they organized competitions only on the two greens at Parc Howard. Since 2006, part of my tournament moved to the Calsonic Bowling Club, as they have excellent facilities to host such events.
